The Accumulation of Acts

"Something remarkable—even heroic—is happening every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Alfons Gallery..." - John Schneider, Shepherd Express

In The Accumulation of Acts Andrea & Daniel Burkholder use video, technology, theatrical sets, and live action to juxtapose enduring places within communities and the challenges of spaces always in flux. The exhibit includes one square foot, a multi-media work interweaving footage of site-specific dances throughout Milwaukee, along with interviews of Milwaukeeans reflecting on places that hold significance for them. Additionally, in 1x1, performers inhabit a part of the gallery, in which they build, alter, and demolish the installation, exploring their ever changing relationship to the space and thereby each other. Read John Schneider's review in the Shepherd Express here.

Over the course of this exhibit 8 site-specific dance performances will take place in locations throughout Milwaukee (days/times TBD), bringing the project back to the neighborhoods where research for the project was gathered.

All events are free and open to the public.
