The Accumulation of Acts

Diving into a new realm, Andrea and Daniel Burkholder present their first gallery installation this summer at Alfons Gallery, on historic south Layton Blvd.

The exhibit includes "one square foot", a multi-media work featuring interviews of Milwaukeeans reflecting on places that hold significance for them. This work features video projected on two diagonal screens in an immersive, living room-style setting.

Additionally, in "1x1", performers inhabit two 6'x6' modular platforms, on which they build, alter, and demolish their world, thereby exploring their ever changing relationship to the space and thereby each other. Behind the performers a video of driving the perimeter of Milwaukee is projected, and below the performers is a handmade river symbolic of the three rivers running through and separating Milwaukee's neighborhoods.

Over the course of this exhibit 8 site-specific dance performances will take place in locations throughout Milwaukee, bringing the project back to the neighborhoods where research for the project was gathered.
